Anchor snubber

ANCHOR SNUBBER:

An anchor snubber is a bridle used to take the strain of the chain rode.  This reduces wear on the boat from the chain and also acts as a shock absorber and silences the chain.  Use either a single line going through the bow roller or a bridle as shown in the diagram.
